Mrs. Velma Maxwell Cooper Cartwright, age 95, of Unionville, Tennessee, died Thursday, January 2, 2014 in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Mrs. Cartwright was born in Bedford County and was a daughter of the late Willie Newt and Edna Sudberry Maxwell. She was a member of the Unionville United Methodist Church and was retired from the United Postal Service as a postal clerk at the Unionville Post Office. Mrs. Cartwright was preceded in death by her first husband, James Lytle Cooper, who died in 1982, her second husband, Leslie Cartwright, who died in 1995, and a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Margaret Maxwell.

Mrs. Cartwright is survived by a daughter, Drusilla (Jeff) Shires, Unionville, TN; a son, William Clarence (Ann) Cooper, Unionville, TN; grandchildren, Chris (Lauren) Cooper, Stephanie (Charles) Lambert, Daniel (Melanie) Lambert, all of Unionville, TN and Dustin (Jenifer) Lambert, Memphis, TN; great grandchildren, Beth, Christopher and Joey Cooper, Jordyn and Ashlyn Lovvorn, Maekynzie Lambert, Michael, Chase and Melissa Lambert, Elsie, Sylvia and Sydney Lambert; great great grandson, Masyn Carlton.

Family members will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 4,2014 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Dustin Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Unionville Cemetery.
