Virginia Spence

Mrs. Virginia White Spence, age 81, of the Rover Community of Bedford County, died Monday, December 7, 2020 in Kingsport, Tennessee. Mrs. Spence was born in Bedford County and was a daughter of the late Allen and Laura Virginia “L V” Sanders Hudson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Haskins Spence, who died in 1994; a granddaughter, Erika Spence; and a sister, Barbara Beasley.

Mrs. Spence was a homemaker and had retired from the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration where she was the head of data processing training. She was a long time member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church in the Rover Community.

Mrs. Spence is survived by her son, Michael (Julie) Spence, Kingsport, TN; sister, Faye Sudberry, Shelbyville, TN; grandchildren, Jessica Pendergrass, Jacob Wise, Matthew Spence; great grandchildren, Haylie Pendergrass, Connor Pendergrass, Austin Pendergrass, Brooke Pendergrass, Christopher Hockett, Zachary Hockett, Elijah Fugate, Paul Denton, III; several nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held later with burial to follow in Simpson Cemetery in the Rover Community.
