Mr. William Emil Gunther, Jr. (Bill), age 75, of Franklin, TN was called home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2020.
Bill was born on May 13, 1945 in Rockaway, Queens, New York to William and Catherine Gunther. In early adulthood, Bill became a Police Officer and later met his wife of 42 years, Jayne Gunther. Bill served on the Malverne, New York Police Department for 23 years before retiring to Franklin, TN. While residing in Franklin, Bill started a successful property inspection company, BJK Property Inspections, where he worked for 20 years before officially retiring.
Bill was a devout Catholic his entire life and a proud member of the St. Philip Parish since 1995. In his leisure time, Bill enjoyed building his motor home and playing the guitar. In 2002 Bill co-founded the Happy Tennessee Travelers Camping Club. He and Jayne enjoyed traveling in their motor-home over the years. Bill’s love for music prompted him to create the Gunther Jam Night which was held every Monday in his home since 2010.
Bill is survived by his sisters Kathleen Mancusi and Joan Henson, beloved wife Jayne, and five children – Judith, Melissa, Heather, William III, Timothy, and his grandchildren Luke, Alex and William IV.
Family members will receive friends on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Philip Catholic Church in Franklin, TN. Funeral services will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 11:00 AM on October 28, 2020 in St.Philip Catholic Church with Father Bala officiating. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mended Hearts, 1420 Yorktown Circle, Cookeville, TN 38501 and/or The American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, TN 37203. Immediately following the service, Bill will be laid to rest at Swanson Cemetery, Morningside Dr., Chapel Hill, TN.
