Willie Maud Liggett

Mrs. Willie Maud Liggett, age 99, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, died on Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Lewisburg, TN. Mrs. Willie Maud was born in the Farmington Community of Marshall County, TN and was the daughter of the late Willie Marshall Thurman and America Vera Curlee Thurman. She was a homemaker. On April 3, 1944 she married the love of her life, Mr. J. C. Liggett, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her grandmother who raised her, Mrs. Ada Morris Curlee.

 Mrs. Willie Maud loved to go shopping, and she loved styling in fashion. She enjoyed cooking for her friends and family and playing cards. In early years, she enjoyed traveling to visit family in different places. She enjoyed watching television shows and having visitors, and talking on the telephone with her friends and family. Once, she even coordinated a large reunion of friends and teachers after 40 years of being apart at Henry Horton State Park 

 Mrs. Liggett is survived by her Goddaughter, Joy Bailey of Malden, MA; caretaker, Althea Harvey of Malden, MA; niece, Barbara Clark and family of Detroit, MI; great niece, Felisa Clarke of Malden, MA; and special friends in the Lewisburg, TN area.

 Visitation with the family will be on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 11 AM until 12 Noon at Lawrence Funeral Home. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 PM on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Beechwood Cemetery in Cornersville, TN with Jamie Pratt officiating. Interment will follow after the service.
